About Us
Co-directed by internationally renowned musicians Anthony Marwood and Richard Lester, Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival has emerged from the acclaimed Florestan Festival at Peasmarsh, directed for fourteen years by the award-winning Florestan Trio.
We aim to bring world-class musicians of international standing to rural East Sussex so that audiences from nearby and afar can enjoy chamber music in greater intimacy. We have nine concerts over four days, an emerging ensemble Residency and an Education Programme working with local school children. It is a significant event in the regional cultural calendar, and we are proud to present such a festival in this corner of the world.
The festival leaflet is usually published in mid-March each year, with Friends and Patrons receiving priority booking, after which the tickets go on sale to the general public.
We are tremendously grateful to all the Friends, Patrons, Sponsors, Trust and Foundations and volunteers who make the Festival possible. We are particularly grateful for the contribution in-kind and for certain elements of the festival infrastructure from the Friends of Peasmarsh Parish Church, for the support of the Vergers and Churchwardens of Peasmarsh and Beckley churches, and also of St Mary’s Church in Rye.
Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival is organised and promoted by the Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival Trust (formerly known as The Florestan Trust), a charitable company limited by guarantee.
